San Diego's Coronado Island is pleasant for a one-night vacation or for an enjoyable day trip. Everywhere you could want to go in Coronado is a short walk so you won’t need your car, and you could even take the train and ferry to get there. The Visitor Center’s self-guided walking tour map of historic homes identifies 65 important houses that were built starting in the late 1800s, providing a short history of each one.
The shopping area near the ferry terminal is worthwhile for a short walk because of the beautiful views of the Bay and mainland. The shops and restaurants there might be worth a quick look, but the shops are not as charming and sophisticated as the ones in downtown Coronado.
