Pioneertown and the Old West

Pioneertown is a great way to relive the feeling of 1940s and ‘50s cowboy movies and television shows about the American west. It’s an actual movie set that Hollywood studios used during that period for making movies such as those featuring Gene Autry and television shows such as Roy Rogers and The Cisco Kid.

Pioneertown has a population of 350 located in a desolate section of Yucca Valley, between Palm Springs and Joshua Tree. Visiting there is free, and “wild west shows” with lots of action and shooting take place on the main street throughout the summer.
